September 2012

September was a busy month for Janyaa with many exciting events held in association with our helpful partners. We are very grateful to our volunteers who have made these events successful. Rajesh Shastry, our volunteer lead has been phenomenal in inspiring volunteers.

A Bollywood Broadway Musical celebrating the life of Legendary Rajesh Khanna. Janyaa presented this event in association with Radio Zindagi and Andaaz Music Band on September 14th in Fremont, CA. Not surprisingly, this was a sold out event attended by an excited crowd. Janyaa also had an information desk for providing details about the learning program.

On September 15th in Palo Alto, Janyaa presented a comedy Hindi play in association with Instant Karma. This too was a packed event.  This was the first ever Bollywood Musical Play involving famous actors from the Hindi Cinema – Padmini Kolhapure, Shakti Kapoor and Navin Bawa . The play was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd and was aptly titled – Aasman Se Gire Khajoor Pe Atke. Volunteers from Janyaa were very involved with the play setup and logistics.

On September 16th, Janyaa in association with Mystique Events, presented Vivah 2012 – an exciting Bridal and Lifestyle event. With a packed house, sold-out vendor booths, a great fashion show & riveting reviews by the press & media, WLEA was billed not only as California’s but as North America’s biggest South Asian wedding & lifestyle expo. We had an information desk setup and our volunteers helped with the event setup.

That’s all for now. Please look forward to our updates in the next newsletter. We have the grand Utsav 2012 event with Dandiya, fun events for the entire family and a talent show for kids. Please do attend. For more details, view the link.

September 2012

There has been a lot happening with our program in India.

Teacher training at Solapur

We are expanding rapidly in Maharashtra. An extensive teacher training session was conducted by Surendra in Solapur. Janyaa’s learning program of empowering children has been introduced in 10 schools on 30th aug 2012.

Refresher training for SAP Labs Bangalore volunteers and partners

A refresher training camp was held for our partners in India at SAP Labs, Bangalore. The partners who attended include Read India Foundation, Make A Difference, Hope foundation. It was conducted by Surendra. A couple of potential partners also attended the training. We also had a good employee turnout from SAP and Intel. Janyaa has a very scalable model and the more partners we have, the more faster we can empower children.

Initiating our program at Basavanagudi school

Rajesh Arya from SAP India Global delivery and his wife Anuradha Arya have adopted a school in Bangalore. They have introduced the Janyaa program to kids in 6th grade of Govt. Girls Model Primary school, Basavangudi, Bengaluru. Anuradha has conducted the training session for teachers along with the children. It was an exciting first day at class for these young kids.

Development of new experiment/games in progress

The employees at SAP Labs, Bangalore are very active in helping Janyaa. They are currently working on developing new exciting science and math experiments/games for Janyaa.

You too can get involved with Janyaa. If you would like to volunteer at events or help us in designing new experiments, please contact us at volunteer@janyaa.org.
