Friday Night Out – Aug 26th Fun event!!

We had a fun filled evening on Friday Aug 26th. We at Janyaa would like to thank all of our friends and supporters who attended the event and made it a great success. A big thank you to all of the volunteers, many of whom had to directly come from work through the crazy Friday evening traffic, esp. Kaushik, Amit, Usha, Rama Dasu,Venu and Kranthi.

We started off with Dumb Charades and Antakshari which turned out to be a lot of fun. Everyone participated in the games with enthusiasm!!It was followed by a delicious dinner and dancing.

Amit did an excellent job with hosting of Antakshari and also as our DJ. We had a great time dancing away and it was a lot of fun!!

Kranthi – thank you for the announcements and hosting Antakshari along with Amit, with great enthusiasm.

Rama Dasu and Kaushik - Thanks for help with the signs and set up of materials, picking up food, signing up guests at the registration and helping with wrapping up everything at the end of the event.

Ila & her Mom, and Rama – Great help at the Registration desk. We appreciate you being at the entrance while other volunteers could completely focus on conducting the program smoothly. Thank You!

Gayatri – Great job on starting the event with Dumb Charades and Antakshari; hosting and conducting it so beautifully. We also thank you for making a yummy dessert – Badam Halwa. It was excellent.

Usha, Venu and anyone whom I may have missed- thank you for your support on the back end of organizing this event and making it happen. Of course Venu is a great motivator and inspiration for all that we do.

We would also like to thank Harini at TIE. She was in constant communication, in case we needed help on the audio systems or projectors etc. In spite of being off for the weekend and having personal plans on Friday evening, she made sure that she was accessible, if any assistance was needed, as this was our first time at the venue.

I enjoy being a part of Janyaa and love to do whatever I can in helping out. I had a great time! (Sharmila here!!)

Janyaa Annual Event – July 2011

Cupertino games annual event on the 16^th of July was full of fun filled exciting games that I hadn’t participated in a long time. It brought a feeling of nostalgia and memories of endless summer hours spent playing these games with friends.

We started off with Dog and the Bone followed by Lagori, Dumb Charades, and many other games! There was a lot of running and falling (a lot of falling – at least for me!!); and it made feel like a kid again.

Since I was new to the team, I finally got to meet Kaushik, Jalaja, Gayatri and others, with whom I had only communicated via email before the event. It was a great time to meet everyone in the Janyaa team.

We couldn’t have asked for a better day as it was a perfect temperature in the mid 70s and though it was fairly warm, the sun was veiled by clouds at times to give us much wanted relief from the heat. Mother Nature was cooperating in helping us with this wonderful cause with a blend of warmth and cool breeze to keep us going throughout the event.

It was a fun event and looking forward to more in the future. Kudos to all in Janyaa to make this event happen!!

Holi 2011

We had a great event at Holi 2011. It was a great success!! Thank you all for your support and help, especially to the following volunteers.

Rajesh Prabhu : First, want to welcome you on board as volunteer – started with Holi 2011. You can’t imagine how happy I was when I saw you entering the park as one of the first persons from our volunteer team. I know you had to go around 1PM…..but you were there until the clean-up. Even though I reached out to you just before the event, your support was really great. Your handling of critical situations at the event made me very comfortable. You being the member with suggestions/contributions to events will help Janyaa a lot. Thank you for all the help Rajesh.

Divyesh Jain: Another young volunteer on board with Holi 2011. Helping us as the Parking Monitor while your wife and friends were waiting for you - it is just unimaginable how far the helping attitude can take people. Thank you so much and welcome aboard, Divyesh.

Pranay Kaikini : Another youngest volunteer on board with Holi 2011. Spending 4 hours as Parking Monitor without getting time to participate in the event - I have no words to express my feelings. Your help from selling tickets to event day help are just great. It was great help Pranay. Really appreciate it!!!

Murali Medam: Another volunteer on board with Holi 2011. Started helping with selling tickets and asking other colleagues to help. Murali, if you were not available that day – event would have been in a great trouble. When the generator was not fitting in Chinmaya’s car, we needed someone with bigger vehicle. Murali immediately drove and went to get the generator. After the event is over while driving back, we realized we forgot a water bottle that was borrowed from another volunteer. So called Murali again and guess what. He is available to go to the park and pick-it up. Thank you so much, Murali!

Rekha: Another new volunteer for Holi 2011. Rekha purchased tickets and came with her family to enjoy the event. When we needed some help, I approached her to see if she can handle the registration for few hours. Next second, she requested her husband to take care of kids and took over the registration. Big thank you, Rekha (and family). It was really pleasure to meet people like you.

Chaitanya Kuntamukkala: Another new volunteer for Holi 2011. Chaitanya was very helpful in doing lot of background tasks like getting city, fire, DOH permissions, tickets printing/distribution and calling all the friends to spread the word. Chaitanya, your help is very much appreciated and welcome aboard.

Sesha garu: Another new volunteer for Holi 2011. Your help with selling tickets and event day parking monitor has made a great difference!! It is really great to have you….welcome aboard and appreciate your help.

Usha Hanumolu: Your help from the day one of event planning until after the event – is unimaginable particularly with your personal situation. Truly I was not expecting you to come to volunteer with a few weeks baby at home. It is just great. For everything that was needed on the event day – has come from your home!! Thank you soooo much, Usha.

Savita Shenoy: Thank you very much, for your help with handling registration. When the day has started with rain/cold, I started getting worried…..it was really nice and big thank you!!!

Chinmaya Sarangi : A long time volunteer of Janyaa, your responsibility has started from the very morning with picking-up generator/tables and it ended when you dropped-off tables at rental office. Big thank you to you, Chinmaya. Without your help, event would have been in a big problem.

Rajesh Arukala : Want to sincerely thank you for making some time on that day. I know your family had other plans that day. When I called you the day before for help, you made necessary arrangements and arrived at the event. Want to sincerely thank you and your family. Your help as parking monitor had gone a long way with gaining confidence from City. This has set a good foundation for Janyaa events in the future.

Pavan Bayyapu: Thank you for your help on the event day, Pavan. You came to event immediately after your return from Germany trip. Appreciate your help.

Rajib Shome & Yingjiong He : The official photographer’s of Janyaa. With all your help, Holi 2011 has become a lifetime sweet memory for all of us. Thank you very much for being there even when showers started and until the end. It was really great and want to express appreciation on behalf of everyone enjoying the photos.

Ankur Jain: Core member of making Holi 2011 a success. Ankur helped with lot of tasks right from the day one of the event planning. Especially, Ankur has spent all the day on Saturday to arrange everything and started 7.30 AM on the event day to make arrangements. Ankur without your help, Holi 2011 would have been a dream.

Sudhon Kanagaraj: Another core member of making Holi 2011 a success. Sudhon, started with distributing fliers in Fremont/Union City area’s. Since then, his contributions to marketing/boards/parking monitoring and other help on event day was really great. Mr & Mrs Sudhon – your help was just great. It was really great to meet nice people like you.

Manikanta Panchineelam : Core member of Holi 2011 event. Mani has helped with the event starting from website set-upà fliers distribution à full day of work over event weekend. At 7AM on Saturday, Mani was at Racho San Antonio to distribute fliers to all the hikers and his day ended late evening after completing all the required tasks. He is one of the first/last person who came/left the event to/after making sure everything is set-up/cleaned. On his way back, he drove through all the parking lots to make sure everything is normal. With this kind of help, anything is possible. A big thank you for all the help Mani.

Rama Dasu Puli: The man!!! A true example of dedicated volunteer with lot of passion. Rama, helped with setting-up booths in SAP, selling tickets, buying required stuff for event and most importantly the event weekend. Rama spent whole day at the event right from setting-up until clean-up. He is one of the first/last people to enter/leave the event and took care of all the required clean-up/set-up. I am sure, dedicated volunteers like you can take Janyaa to next levels.

Kaushik Macherla: Core member of the event. Missed you a lot on the event day. Even though you had to travel to India during the event, we had no option except calling you to get your help. It was amazing support from you Kaushik. Thank you for all the help.

Jai Godora: Thank you for all your help in designing the flier for the event. We received great feedback for the same where some people were specifically asking for you. Despite being very busy at work, you accommodated our request and helped us out. Thank you very much Jai.

2011 Men/Women Volleyball tournament

Janyaa’s 2011 Volleyball tournament was conducted on May 7th at Ponderosa park, Sunnyvale. It was a huge success as it has been for the past couple of years. We had good turnout in both Beginners and Non-beginners Men categories. Tournament started at 8AM and ended at 8PM. It was a very long day – worth every minute. It was great watching the finals in all categories. Here are the results.

Venkat: Our first and foremost thanks goes to Venkat for helping us out with all the logistics of conducting this tournament, specifically with scheduling, conflict resolution, helping us procure nets, umpiring and more. Thank you so much Venkat. We know we wouldn’t have been able to conduct this event without you.

Usha Davuluri: Many thanks to you for all your involvement and support throughout the event. We are really glad to have someone like you supporting Janyaa. You got us the support of your VB gang and we appreciate you for the same. Thank you Usha.

VB gang – not only played in both Men’s categories, but also donated food for the event.

Big thanks to all the girls – Jyothi, Latha, Samatha, Sridevi, Sudha, Padma and Usha – for taking time to cook such wonderful dishes. We cannot single out any dish as all of them were very delicious and everyone were appreciating the same.

Last but not the least, we must say we are extremely impressed with Jagruthi. Such a sweet little girl. She came to me and asked ‘Can I help you aunty’ and she went around to sell brownies, she even sold food. She really made our day. She is our youngest volunteer . Thank you so much Jagruthi. Very pleased to meet a very sweet girl like you.

Kaushik, Ankur, Manikanta, Madhu, Venu, Usha, Rama: How can we complete this event without the support of our core team. So much work goes into organizing an event that gets unnoticed and you are all part of it. Great job everyone. Wonderful job Usha in putting this event together. Your presence itself makes a huge difference.

Thanks to all the volunteers and players who supported us throughout.

Venkat: Congratulations for winning the Advanced category Venkat. A big thank you for staying back after your tournament and helping us. We know you missed out on your celebrations on our request – which is very nice of you. We cannot even imagine getting through Intermediate matches without you. And of course the Beginners final. Thank you so much for being there for us whenever we needed you. You helped us quite a lot last year and this year including last week’s Coed tournament. We cannot thank you enough.

Rama Puli: Though you were notified in the last minute you showed up at 6:30 in the morning and stayed till the end. Helped us in every possible way and also made sure that games went on schedule. Rama – you have been the backbone of the tournament yesterday. Thank you very much for all your time and help.

Manikanta: Thank you Mani for showing up as promised and taking care of the tournament in the afternoon along with Rama. Seeing you in the park lighted up our mood as we were actually struggling to get through. Thank you very much Mani.

Kaushik, Ankur: Thank you both for helping us with setup and supervising some games. Appreciate your support a lot.

You also helped us with our practice sessions. We wonder what can we do without you. Great to have you in our team.

Jani: Thank you very much for staying back till the end and taking care of the entire tournament along with Kaushik. We are thankful to have you as part of the team.

Savita: What would we do without you Savita. You were there the entire day helping us out with various tasks. It is good to know you. Welcome to the team. Thank you very much for your support.

Yufeng: Thank you so much for coming early in the morning and helping us setup the nets, umpiring and giving the tournament a good start. It feels good to have you all as friends.

Our very successful Badminton tournament

After our successful 2009 with 4 schools, we are working with 36 schools in 2010. We are organizing a series of fundraising events to support our goal. Badminton tournament on April 25th is one of those.

Thank you Suhas, Prasad, Abhimanyu, Venu G, Yufeng, Meghna, Rohan, Niraj Jha, Shubh, Jaideep for umpiring.Special thanks to Venu G for umpiring without playing though he registered for singles.

Our Badminton tournament was a huge success – thanks to our players who helped us through it. We had best of the people who were very patient, understanding and supportive. We cannot thank you all enough.

Janyaa Walk and Run event completed successfully

What a weather. Can it get any better than this for running? It was like walking in a hill station. No rain, just foggy, no sun. All the runners and walkers loved it.

We would like to thank all the volunteers who helped us. All of them showed up at 6AM and stayed till the end until we finished the cleanup. How can we make it without you all? You are our strength. Here they are in alphabetical order.

Ankur: Glad to have you on team Ankur. You took care of so many things for us starting from posting our event details on countless websites, distributing flyers at various races, finding food sponsors, working with Usha on PA system and getting Yogi Mahendra & Fusion Beatz for warm up & cool down sessions. What would we do without you?

Chinmaya: You biked through the whole trail the previous day, checked the details online, provided valuable suggestions and on the race day setup mile markers and directions for the race. Handled the situation very efficiently when the original path was not run-worthy and deviated the runners on to the track seamlessly. Thank you so much Chinmaya.

Madhu D: Thank you making it in the last minute in spite of your busy schedule. You helped us with distributing flyers and other key tasks for the organization itself. Glad to have you on the team Madhu.

Manikanta: Responsible for pre-registration desk, setting up the timer and noting the finish timings. Well, what can we say. You had the one of the most important tasks of the race and managed it extremely well without any hitches. Cannot imagine how you could take care of everything under such pressure. Thank you finishing off with compiling race results. Thank you so much Mani.

Mani Sreedharala: Thank you for making it fun for us Mani by cheering the runners while reaching the finish line, keeping the atmosphere alive with your comments and of course taking care of preparing mile marker sticks the previous day. You have been there right from the beginning starting July till the end on Oct 18th including communication related tasks or booths at SAP. Without your support, it would’ve been difficult to execute the race.

Ramu V: Thank you so much Ramu for getting our breakfast. You had to knock doors and pick up food to deliver it on time for our walk. You also helped us with distributing flyers and we appreciate all your valuable suggestions to make this race a successful event.

Rati: You came to participate in 5k and ended up helping us out with on-site registrations. You could not participate in the walk itself, but I hope you had fun with us. Thank you very much Rati.

Siva M: Thank you for taking care of getting the water for the event amongst other tasks. You have been our support right from the beginning and been very proactive with all the tasks. Your enthusiasm in supporting Janyaa gives us the energy to go for more. Thank you very much Siva for supporting us through out the event.

Srikanth N: Or technical guru who was there for every technical need. Whether it’s creating registration pages on a fly or helping us market on social network sites. I had to wake him up in middle of his sleep to help me out with last minute glitches. Thank you Srikanth for everything including your valuable marketing suggestions.

Sudhir T: Thank you Sudhir for helping us out with tables and chairs during the event. It would’ve been such a pain if you were not there for us. In spite of your busy schedule you managed to contribute your time for the event. Thank you for your time and support.

Usha H: Last but not the least, always manages to step up to the occasion and taking care of every minute detail. You helped with so many tasks including distributing flyers at various races, coming up with wonderful ideas for marketing or with our booths at SAP. Thank you so much Usha for all your time and support. I don’t know what we can do without you and your creative ideas apart from effectively executing them of course.

Apart from our team we had quite a few volunteers from SAP who helped us out. Special thanks to all of you for making this event a great success. We would not have been able to do this without you at all. We hope you can continue your support to us in future. Here they are in random order.

Sathish, Rama Dasu, Kaushik: Thank you all for helping us out in setting up the water stations on 1/2 marathon trail. It was definitely not easy to check it the previous day, bike through the trail to see if it’s run-worthy. Or was not easy on the race day to carry water on bicycles to setup the water stations. You guys have done a commendable job in keeping the water supply for our runners and setting up the mile markers.

Shahvir: You took care of pre-registrations and also helped Nick in finding names of runners based on bib numbers. This was something all our runners liked – a personal touch. Thank you Shahvir for all your support. We appreciate it.

Nick: who immediately said ‘yes’, when I asked him to emcee our event. Thank you so much Nick for doing such a wonderful job along with helping us out with other activities during the event. We appreciate all your help.

Srinivasa Raju and Baski: You both handled the situation well with your water station and we cannot ask for more. You helped us with tasks before the race started and also after. It is really nice to have people like you supporting us. You are our energy. Thank you so much Srinivas and Baski. We appreciate your support and time.

Gaurav: You single handedly managed water station 1. You helped us with other tasks along with clean up. How can we thank you Gaurav? We appreciate your help and support. Thank you so much.

Jani: You were one of the key people at the finish line helping us out and also cheering the finishers. You also helped us with post-race tasks. Thank you so much Jani for all the help you provided.

Seema: You were so eager to help us out with the tasks at the race, you were always behind me asking ‘what can I do’. You helped with so many tasks and finally took care of pre-registration tasks amongst others. Thank you so much Seema for all your support.

Susanne: When I asked you what time you can come on the race day, you said ‘anytime’. I was surprised. With 3 little children, you managed to come by 6:30AM and stayed till the end. You helped with on-site registration and other tasks at the event. You are very supportive and it has been a pleasure having you part of the event. Thank you very much Susanne.

Ananda: You came to run for 10k and ended up helping us pre and post race. You could’ve just warmed for the race, run and gone home. But you volunteered to help us out and that helped us a lot in managing the event. Thank you so much Anand.

Rajib and Yingjiong: I don’t have to say anything. Their pictures speak for themselves. What a wonderful set of pictures. They captured all the runners at the finish line, beautiful landscape and the whole event. Rajib and Yingjiong: we appreciate your help and your work. Thank you very very much for capturing our memories in such a wonderful manner.

Feedback from teachers and students on our program

The class strength is full on the activity days. Nobody wants to miss the school on this day even if it is raining
Answered ALL the questions related to activities and proudly displayed their windmills, pumps, cubes, cuboids etc.

Well, what more can we ask for. We are more than happy to get this feedback. This is exactly what we wanted to achieve. Of course there is a long way to go. But we are off for a good start.
